I have to work on Easter Sunday, so we had our Easter this morning. Lincoln ended up in my bed again at about 4am since he kept coughing himself awake and by that point, I was getting tired of getting up and going into his room to lay him down and cover him back up. This cough that he has is pretty darn nasty!!
We got up about 7:30 this morning and had a nice warm bath to start the day before we headed out to see what the Easter Bunny had left for us. The bath was partly because I thought it would be a nice way to start the day and partly because I was trying to stall going out into the living room as long as possible. There were eggs and treats hidden all over the living and play rooms and Jamie, Kendra and Lindsey, and Christine & Junior their kids were going to come up for an Easter hunt at 9:30 and I didn't want Lincoln to have a head start.
So, after a bath, we went out to the kitchen to check and see if the Easter Bunny had come and what he had left for Lincoln.
He was pretty excited about the eggs. He did get quite a bit of chocolate. But he also got some other stuff as well.
A movie about evil chickens who steal chocolate from happy bunnies. We snuggled in bed and watched it while we were waiting for our friends.
And he also got a really soft blue Easter bunny and a nice spring hat for when (IF) the weather ever warms up here. We went out in the yard to play this afternoon and had to come back inside because it started snowing on us!! And that was after the crazy hailstorm had hit us earlier.
As you can see from this picture, he started his morning off with some Easter chocolate before breakfast. But he did eat all his scrambled eggs and 'dip dip' (ketchup) so I really can't complain too much.
He loves to play with cars and trucks. That's what he did while he waited for me to make our breakfast. He was quite happy to sit in his highchair and play with the new cars.
It worked for me because it meant he was contained and not off finding candy in the living room.

Once breakfast was done, it was time for the great egg and candy hunt. Jamie and Kendra came upstairs with Lindsey and Christine, Junior and their three little ones came over as well. Lincoln went into the living room and spotted an egg right away and looked a little confused by it - holding it up for me to see and saying - "Look what I find, Mommy." Christine's two older ones, Wyatt, 4, and Grace, 3, along with Jamie were pretty good at searching, but Lincoln, Kendra, and Christine's youngest, Myles, 1, didn't really seem to care much for the search. They were all more content to just play and watch the older ones looking. The Easter bunny was smart and color coded everything so in the end, even if they didn't find their own treats, we sorted them out and it kept everything nice and fair.
Once the hunt was over, Christine and her crew left to go and visit their grandmother. Jamie stayed up and played for a little while and Kendra went downstairs with her mom to have a nap. Later that day, we went outside to play in the back yard and burn off some of the chocolate and candy. Then we all went for a drive to the Exhibition grounds to check out the horses and cows. They must be having some kind of rodeo or something coming up, because there were way more horses there than usual. We got to see a few of them being led around and some being ridden. Usually, we just drive along and look at them all in their pens. There were a bunch of cows outside with numbers on them too. We rolled down our windows and listened to them 'moo'. We also heard a couple of the horses 'neigh' as well. Kendra decided that she was a little tired so she napped while we checked out the many many horses. Then it was home, dinner and a nice relaxing bath. All in all, it was a pretty nice way to spend and early Easter!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
