We have been having some hot - very hot -but I'm not complaining - weather. My only complaint really is the skylights in our house. They let in incredibly amounts of sunlight and heat and the house holds the heat in like crazy!! And since I'm crazy paranoid about leaving windows open when we are not home or sleeping, well, not a lot of cool air gets into our home. This means we take avantage of going out. That means we're not home, the doors and windows are locked so the house stays warm. It's a vicious cycle really. Anyway, on this particular day, we headed off to Fort George Park to play in the Waterpark area. I thought Lincoln would love running through the water and splashing around...
There as a muddy area near our blanket... and THAT is what he loved most. He did go in the water a bit at the end, but really, he was more content to just step and squish his toes in the mud.
Showing off his muddy feet. He was thrilled when he asked if he could play in there and I told him sure - go ahead! Crazy excitement. (after he looked at me as if to size me up to see if I was serious or not.) He had the best time in that mud! I'm going to have to remember to take him out now and then and find a big mudpile and let him stomp around in it -- or maybe make one somewhere in the yard. The mess is worth it to see the joy and excitement on his face as he squished about.
It wasn't even that huge a section of mud.
Squish! Squish! Squish! Mud between the toes is very fun!
"Can I put my hands in the mud, Mommy?"
"Sure - why not!" The day didn't start out to be messy - only wet - but I don't regret it at all!!
So much fun squishing his hands in the mud too.
"Look Mommy!!"
Trying to put his hands in the mud facing different directions.
Hands and Feet in the mud!
Making hand prints beside his feet prints.
I love this impish little grin. I still can't believe how much fun he had.
Doing a drop into the mud... ready, set, go!!
This did not work out for him the way he had planned. He fell on his knee and bent his finger the wrong way. He was not to thrilled with the outcome of his 'mud' drop.
Going off to the water to rinse his hands and feet (and knees).
Under the sprayer cleaning his hands off.
Checking out the sprayers at the park.. he wasn't too keen on that at all.
Clean hands and feet, now time for a snack -- but not a clean face!
One more picture of his muddy face and then we headed for home to a nice bath!
I love this age. I love that every event is new and fun and exciting. I also love that such simple things bring him such great pleasure. I never would have thought he would have spent two hours so close to spraying water and not really venture into it because he was having so much fun squishing mud between his toes and on his hands. Especially since he really wasn't into the finger painting that much.
I don't know how I ever thought my life was complete until this little guy came along. He makes everything so fantastic. He can take the smallest thing and make it such an adventure. I love exploring new things with him because you just never know what kind of things you'll see and discover. I love him with all my heart!
