Science and a Movie...

We went to the movie "Ice Age: Continental Divide". It was very good after a few minor glitches. First, I drove by the theatre yesterday and it said it started at 12:05. Lincoln has sports camp until 11:30 and today was swimming day so I knew it was going to be rushed. We (Christine came too with Myles and Grace and two other kids from her daycare.) picked the kids up at the pool and quickly got them changed, rushed to the theatre and got through the concession line with about 10 minutes to spare.
We get settled, we get kids seated in booster seats, popcorn and drinks in holders and any last minute bathroom trips and we're off!
At 12:05, the movie starts. We were the only ones in the theatre. Nice! The movie begins, the previews start and about 5 minutes later, the movie shuts off and the lights come back on. I went off to figure out what the deal was... APPARENTLY, the movie starts at 12:05 every other day, but today, it's supposed to start at 1:00. So, we're now in a theatre with about 40 minutes to kill before the movie really starts!  The kids had fun because we let them go walking - well we said walking, but it was actually more of a slow run for them. We let them go up and down the 'hill'. FINALLY the time passed and the movie started for real this time. Then there was an issue with the lights and they wouldn't go off... they finally got that straight, and the movie started and we actually got to watch it! It was definitely a cute movie. The kids all enjoyed it, although, for a bit there, I thought Lincoln was going to fall asleep. He climbed in my lap after the previews and kinda leaned against me watching the movie for the rest of the show.
The movie ended and we were on our way out. Grace, and the two daycare kids have gone off ahead with Christine, while Lincoln, Myles and I are doddling behind.... Myles comes up beside me, slips his hand into mine and says... "I'm gonna come to your house Auntie Rhonda." I said, "Oh, are you now?" and without a pause he says, "Yup, cause I never get to go to your house - ever."
So...needless to say, we had Myles over for a playdate... (Cause he's NEVER been to my house you know!)

The boys had a very fun afternoon. Lincoln is always asking me if we can do a 'speriment' so I thought today would be a great day to do it. I gave them a tray filled with baking soda and some vinnegar and they made mini-volcanoes for a while.

The boys getting ready...
Lincoln squirting the vinnegar into the pan.
At first I gave them little mini-spray bottles.
Myles spraying his pan and watching the 'fizz'.

Lincoln - very intently spraying around the pan.

Myles using his spoon to make a pile....
Lincoln spraying his vinnegar into the pan - I still haven't figured out how to rotate the pictures.

Myles...

Lincoln spraying in some more vinnegar...

Look at it foam all over the place!

It is sooo cool!!!

Wow... just watching it ooze...

Dumping in the rest of the baking soda... this is gonna be a big one!!

Touching it with his fingers... carefully!

AND touching it again - this time - NOT so carefully!! All in!!

Making shapes in the mixture.

Myles putting his hands in.

Lincoln trying to pick it up but it kept oozing through his fingers.

This look says it all!! It was soo much fun!! They had a blast!! And the conversations that they had about it were just great too! We'll definitely be doing this one again in a few weeks. Just enough time to make it exciting again!
